Switching from FreeNAS to Ubuntu Server

Ben Parmater has written a multipart series about switching his NAS from FreeNAS to Ubuntu Server. The first part of the series describes a problem he was having with his hardware on the FreeNAS server and steps he took to fix the problems (random reboots):

FreeNas Remote Backups

Joe Paetzel has written a script and instructions for backing up a FreeNas server to a remote machine. The method uses Rsync so that only the changes to the files need to be transmitted after the first backup is done:
